This is a yearly lecture (this year on the 23rd of november), honoring the remembrance of one of the founders of the Sculptuur Instituut and of museum Beelden aan Zee, prof. dr. Theo Scholten. One lecturer is invited to speak, for about one hour, about sculptural history, practice or theory. The lecturer could be art historian, critic, artist or scientist. The Theo Scholten Lecture is published in Sculptuur Studies.

This year, the lecture will be held by Jacob van der Beugel. His work is a mix of traditional ceramic craft and a fusion of science and art. Van der Beugel has used clay for almost two decades, being trained alongside Edmund de Waal in 2004. Please have a look at his website.
